Mother and Child

Jason Oliva

2004

acrylic on canvas

Private collection Chicago, Ill.

“Mother and Child” was a  commission that I received in 2004.  Above is the painting hanging in our NYC apartment before it was collected and flown to Chicago where it was given as a gift  by a husband to his wife on her first Mother’s day. The commission came about after he saw my ABN AMRO commissioned painting  “Two Traders” hanging in their NYC office. I received a call asking me how I felt about the theme “Mother and Child” and would I like to paint a picture for his wife…I am always excited by classical themes and enjoyed every minute of creating this painting.

2003

30″ x 24″, acrylic and House paint on Brown Paper

I was fortunate to spend time on the road with Dave and Longwave during 2002,2003 I believe it was during a day off in Florida that we sought out a photo booth and I went to work on this one of Dave.  I was doing quite a few thing on this brown paper at the time and it really worked with the portraits. I may have to offer it as an option again.
